Cosmos, Pirates invade PE

Jomo Cosmos will go in search of their first Absa Premiership win this season when they host Orlando Pirates on Sunday.

The match takes place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Cosmos played to a 1-1 draw away to Ajax Cape Town in their last league outing. They are the only PSL team still awaiting their first win.

The Gauteng team have drawn three and lost one of their four home matches so far this season.

Ezenkosi are placed last on the Absa Premiership log, with four points from eight matches. Pirates played to a goalless draw at home to AmaZulu in their last league match. They have gone four league matches without a win and failed to score in the last three.

The Soweto giants have suffered three defeats and claimed just one win from their four away matches this season.

The Buccaneers are placed eighth on the Absa Premiership log, with 11 points from eight matches.

In head-to-head stats, Cosmos and Pirates have met in 46 league games since 1985. Bucs have 16 wins to Ezenkosi’s 15, and 15 matches have been drawn. Both teams have scored the same number of goals, 49.

At home against Pirates, Cosmos’ record reads: P24 W8 D8 L8 GF22 GA24. When the teams met in two league matches in 2009/10, Pirates won 4-0 at home but Cosmos claimed some revenge with a 1-0 win in the return match.
